TSTA members named Texas Teachers of the Year

Allison Ashley, an elementary bilingual teacher in Austin ISD and member of Education Austin and TSTA, has been named Texas Teacher of the Year for 2017 and will advance to the National Teacher of the Year competition. A second TSTA member, Deborah Campbell, a speech and credit recovery program teacher from San Angelo ISD, was named the 2017 TSTA Secondary Teacher of the Year. Read more here.

The Great Thanksgiving Listen
The Great Thanksgiving Listen is a national project in which high school students create an oral history of the contemporary United States by recording an interview with an elder. Interviews will be entered into the StoryCorps archive at the Library of Congress' American Folklife Center.

Be an online coach to early career teachers
Coaches will be paid $3000 to guide and support a small group of teachers. The application deadline is Oct. 24.
